Life in the Moments – A Sensitization Day at the Tábitha House

What happens to a family when they find out their child’s life is finite, that the time they have together is less than they hoped? How can one continue to live, love, laugh, and hold on to every single moment, when deep in the heart pain is pounding?

At the Tábitha House, we meet these families every day. We see how they try to bring joy into everyday life, how they fight against pain and helplessness, and how they cherish every little gesture, every laugh, every handshake. We are here to help them with this—and to show that children’s hospice care is not only about the end of life, but also about living with dignity, love, and care.

That’s why we organize our sensitization day—to bring this world closer to those who approach it with an open heart. Those who want to understand how to be present even in the hardest situations—in silence, with support, without judgment. Those who don’t want to turn away when they meet a family in this situation, but want to help—whether with a kind word, as a volunteer, or simply by knowing they matter.

Society often doesn’t know how to deal with these situations. We fear pain, loss, the unspeakable. But these families don’t seek pity—they seek understanding and support. At Tábitha House, we believe that together we can make our community more sensitive, accepting, and supportive.

If you feel you want to understand this world better—even just so you can truly be there for a friend one day—we warmly welcome you. Because life is life, even if shorter, and love is love, even when it hurts. And because we all need not to be alone.

Come, listen to us, and learn how we can give more life to the years—together.
