The First Charity Football Cup and Family Day in Törökbálint

The first Charity Football Cup and Family Day, held this past weekend at the ARЁNA in Törökbálint, was a great success. The event aimed to support the construction of the new Tábitha Children’s Hospice House, a facility spanning over 1000 square meters.

The entire town and surrounding areas came together for the occasion: local residents, institutions, companies, and groups of friends united in the spirit of charity. Teams participating in the football tournament contributed to the fundraising with an entry fee of 60,000 forints, while many others supported the cause with additional donations.

The program kicked off with a gala match between the Alpas Hungarian Media All-Stars and the ARЁNA All Stars teams, featuring renowned athletes, artists, and media personalities.

The Media All-Star team included Attila Katus, former aerobics world champion, personal trainer, and lifestyle coach; Sándor Szenes, legendary Ferencváros football player; Miklós Dudás, Olympic and world champion kayaker; actors Norbert Mohácsi and Krisztián Gombos; stars from the Csember FC; singer Feng Ya Ou; Balázs Szilvay, owner of Lakihegy Radio; footballer Erik Benke; and János Földesi, manager of the Media All-Stars.

The host All Stars team was made up of current and former coaches and well-known athletes who have trained at the ARËNA sports facility. This time, the match was played on an artificial turf small field, where several notable sports stars showcased their talents:

Dániel Buday, a former handball player with 92 national team caps, multiple Hungarian championships, and cup victories.
Dávid Vattamány, a three-time futsal national team player.
Lóránt Oláh, a former Ferencváros player and Hungarian champion with Debrecen in football.
Three riders from the Team United Shipping cycling team also took part, showing their skills on foot rather than on two wheels:

Erik Fetter, two-time national time trial champion, twice placed 4th in the European Road Championships, and a two-time Giro d'Italia participant.
Mihajlo Stolić, a roughly 20-time Serbian champion in various categories, Balkan champion, and junior World Cup winner.
Bálint Feldhoffer, U23 national time trial champion cyclist.
In addition to them, the All Stars jersey was also worn by Ádám Meló, CEO of Moyra-Budaörs Handball; Dávid Deutsch; Aleksandar Deskoski; goalkeeper Benjámin Lipők, known for his spectacular saves; and team captain Zoltán Galambos.

With the help of our supporters and volunteers, a variety of games and sports programs enriched the day for families. Both children and adults found enjoyable ways to relax while experiencing the community-building power of the event.

At the opening ceremony, Judit Teslér, Communications Director of the Tábitha Children’s Hospice House, expressed heartfelt thanks to those present, highlighting the importance of unity. “It means extraordinary value to us that so many have stood by our side and made supporting the Tábitha House their cause. This unity not only aids the construction but also shows that affected families are not alone: they can always count on the support of the Törökbálint community. It is especially joyful for us to feel how important it is for the people of Törökbálint that Hungary’s only children’s hospice institution has been operating here in their town for 13 years.”

Her words vividly illustrated that the event goes beyond simple fundraising: the sense of belonging and shared responsibility conveyed a message of strength and hope to all for whom the Tábitha House is a lifeline during difficult times.

Brigitta Rabóczki-Laukó, event organizer at ARËNA Törökbálint, also spoke appreciatively. “For years, ARËNA has been following and supporting the work of the Tábitha House. It is an important task for us to organize such an extraordinary unity that reminds every participant of the power of community,” she emphasized.

At the event, former national handball player and current head coach Dániel Buday encouraged attendees to help wherever they can. “Families affected are in extremely difficult situations, and our support is vital for them,” he stressed.

Road cyclist Erik Fetter also spoke emotionally about the importance of participation and expressed his joy at being able to contribute to the event’s success.

The event was also supported by numerous local businesses through their products and services, further aiding the fundraising efforts. The proceeds will support the construction of the new Tábitha House, where more children with incurable illnesses and their families can receive safety and assistance from the institution’s staff and volunteers.

We hope that this event will become a tradition and that even more people will unite in the future to support the families in need. At the end of the day, all participants agreed that the power of coming together can truly bring about change.
